A closet-like shopping experience in a soft, neutral environment were key fundamentals to the concept. The store itself is to be a sophisticated, simple, yet stunning backdrop to the primarily neutral merchandise. An open floor plan that allows natural light to flood the space, organized closet-like built-ins, furniture-like displays and lounge seating resulted in an airy, chic, and contemporary design replicating shopping in your own closet. Combining two previous retail spaces, sight lines were maximized by locating the cash wrap in the center of the space in direct view upon entry points. This allows employees to greet patrons immediately, easily view and access both sides of the store, and take a quick step around to the dressing area and stock room. Additionally, effort was taken to design merchandise displays that did not anchor to the original brick, instead were built out in front of the brick. This was achieved using millwork with ceiling mounted and floor mounted bracing as well as with an industrial pipe system and floating shelves. In addition, the original design of the ceiling at the lounge was to have suspended wood beam trusses. However, during construction, existing grey-wash beams were discovered and exposed in replace of the suspended beams. This added character, originality, and additional height to the space.
